In 2009, American artist Tom Sachs introduced a phrase that we’ve adopted as a mantra at Death & Co that speaks to working efficiently amongst chaos: “Always Be Knolling” or “ABK.”
In photography, “knolling” refers to arranging objects in parallel or 90-degree angles. To us, ABK is a physical, mental and emotional exercise, a way to organize a disorderly world. A well-knolled work station establishes intention, underscores conviction, and paves the way for excellence — all things we strive for in the hospitality industry.
